01 About ELSCM
The East London School of Classical Music (ELSCM) is an independent music charity founded in 2015 and based in East London, United Kingdom. Our mission is to make classical music accessible and inclusive for people of all ages and backgrounds.
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website at elscm.co.uk, as well as your participation in our events, tuition programmes, and other activities.
02 Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using our website, purchasing tickets, making a donation, or enrolling in a programme, you confirm that you:
- Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions
- Are at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or guardian
- Agree to be legally bound by these terms
If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please refrain from using our website or services.
Note: These Terms & Conditions should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which sets out how we collect and use your personal data.
03 Use of our website
You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use and enjoyment of the site. Specifically, you must not:
- Use the website in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law
- Transmit any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its servers
- Introduce any viruses, malware, or other harmful software
- Reproduce, copy, or distribute any content from this website without prior written permission

04 Events & ticketing
ELSCM organises concerts, recitals, workshops, and other events throughout the year. The following terms apply when attending our events:
- Ticket purchases — Tickets are sold via Eventbrite. By purchasing a ticket, you also agree to Eventbrite's Terms of Service.
- Entry — A valid ticket (digital or printed) must be presented upon entry. ELSCM reserves the right to refuse entry without a valid ticket.
- Age restrictions — Some events may have age restrictions. These will be clearly stated on the event listing.
- Latecomers — Admission of latecomers is at the discretion of venue management and may not be possible once a performance has begun.
- Behaviour — We expect all attendees to behave respectfully towards performers, staff, and other audience members. ELSCM reserves the right to remove any person causing disruption without a refund.
- Photography & recording — Unless stated otherwise, photography and recording during performances is not permitted out of respect for performers and copyright.
- Event changes — ELSCM reserves the right to alter programme content, performers, or venues. Where an event is cancelled, ticketholders will be notified and refunds issued.
05 Tuition & enrolment
The following terms apply to students enrolled in ELSCM tuition programmes, lessons, or workshops:
- Enrolment — Enrolment is confirmed only upon receipt of a completed registration form and any applicable payment.
- Timetabling — Lesson times are allocated subject to tutor and room availability. ELSCM will endeavour to honour agreed schedules but reserves the right to adjust these where necessary with reasonable notice.
- Missed lessons — Lessons missed by the student without at least 24 hours' notice will not be rescheduled or refunded. Lessons cancelled by ELSCM will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.
- Student conduct — Students are expected to behave respectfully towards tutors, staff, and fellow students. ELSCM reserves the right to withdraw tuition from any student whose behaviour is deemed unacceptable.
- Safeguarding — ELSCM is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. All tutors are DBS checked. Any concerns should be reported to our designated safeguarding lead immediately.
- Parental consent — For students under 18, a parent or guardian must provide consent and relevant emergency contact details at the time of enrolment.
06 Payments & refunds
All fees are stated in GBP (£) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
- Payment methods — We accept payment by card via our ticketing and payment processors. All transactions are handled securely by our third-party providers.
- Tuition fees — Fees for ongoing tuition are due at the agreed intervals (e.g. termly, monthly). Failure to pay may result in suspension of lessons.
- Event tickets — Tickets are non-refundable except in the event of cancellation by ELSCM. Where an event is cancelled, a full refund will be issued via the original payment method.
- Cancellation by the student — Cancellation of tuition enrolment requires a minimum of 4 weeks' written notice. Fees paid in advance for the notice period are non-refundable.
- Disputes — Any payment disputes should be raised with us in writing within 14 days of the charge. We will endeavour to resolve disputes fairly and promptly.
07 Donations
ELSCM gratefully accepts donations in support of our charitable mission. The following applies to all donations made to ELSCM:
- Gift Aid — If you are a UK taxpayer, we may be able to claim Gift Aid on your donation at no extra cost to you. You will be asked to complete a Gift Aid declaration at the time of donation.
- Use of funds — All donations are used to support ELSCM's charitable activities, including concerts, education programmes, bursaries, and community outreach.
- Refunds — Donations are non-refundable except in cases of documented error (e.g. duplicate or incorrect amount). Refund requests must be made in writing within 14 days.
- Anonymity — Donors may request anonymity. Unless otherwise agreed, donor names may be acknowledged in ELSCM publications and materials.
08 Intellectual property
All content on this website — including but not limited to text, photographs, graphics, audio, video, logos, and programme notes — is the property of ELSCM or its licensors and is protected by UK and international copyright law.
You may:
- View and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use
- Share links to our website via social media or other channels
You may not:
- Reproduce, republish, or distribute any content without prior written permission from ELSCM
- Use our name, logo, or branding without express written consent
- Use any content for commercial purposes

09 Limitation of liability

Our website and services make use of third-party platforms including Eventbrite, Facebook, YouTube, and payment processors. Links to external websites are provided for your convenience only.
ELSCM is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party website or service. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party platform before providing your personal information or making a purchase.
11 Changes to these terms
ELSCM reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will take effect as soon as they are published on this page, with the effective date updated accordingly.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of our website or services following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. For significant changes, we will notify newsletter subscribers by email.
12 Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
